Some women love small handbags and others prefer them to be oversize. This article is for those women who need a large handbag and believe they are the exception and their purse is too heavy for a purse hook. Not true, I always say, and to prove it we put our hooks to the test. Each purse hook in our product lineup was individually tested to determine how much weight it can actually hold.
We begin with the Design Hooks
These hooks are the lowest priced purse hooks and we expected them to hold the least amount of weight. So we started with 10lbs. This was no problem and the hook stayed securely on the table. 5lbs was added to the hook for a total of 15lbs. Again, this was not a problem and the hook held the weight securely on the table. 5 more lbs was added to the hook and this is where we began to see some rocking of the hook as the weight was being distributed unevenly throughout the hook. The hook was still remaining on the table and the weight was being held but not as securely. For this reason, we have determined that the maximum weight the Design Hook can securely hold is 15lbs.
The next set of hooks that was tested was the crystal set.
We begin with the package of three containing a star, martini and heart shaped hook. We started with 10lbs. on this hook which could be held very easily. We added weight in increments of 5lbs until we reached 25lbs. and the hook began to wobble. Therefore, it was determined that these hooks can securely hold 20lbs on a table.
The single crystal hooks are the next style that were tested. These hooks are very sturdy and considered to be one of our strongest most durable hooks. We started with 10lbs and knew that we would have to go much higher. After gradually increasing the weight, we reached 50lbs and the hook was holding safely and securely. We were able to increase the weight up to 70lbs, however it began to wobble and shift on the table past 50lbs.
The hooks in our floating collection were next to be tested. We started with 10lbs and gradually increased the weight until we reached 45lbs. when the hook began to wobble and shift determining that this hook can securely and safely hold 40lbs.
We continued this process with the rest of our purse hook styles and following is a list of the maximum capacity each hook could hold safely and securely on the table:
Silver & Gold Wreath- 40lbs.
Folding Hooks- 20lbs.
Clock Classic Hook- 30lbs.
Black Frame Classic Hooks- 30lbs.
The list goes on, but I will spare you. You get the idea right? The least sturdy hook can hold 15lbs. securely. In my opinion, your purse should not weigh more than 15lbs.
